Activity: Know our plants
Participating
students: B.Sc. Students.
Aim:
Understanding the plants present in the surrounding area of the College Campus.
Method:
First short list the plants present in the area. Prepare the details of the
plants like floral, morphological etc. Select the proper place to display the
plant of the week. Allot the responsibilities for taking care of the plants.
Choose the plant to be displayed depending upon the flowering season. Take a
twig or if possible entire plants (for herbs), bring the material to the
laboratory. Clean it and put in the pot water it and display it for the
students of B.Sc.I and II. Prepare the information of the plant on a big chart
or card sheet paper in bold fonts so as to read from a distance. Paste the
chart on the wall. Decorate it.
Outcome:
The activity has played very important role for all the students. It is helpful
to know the diversity of the plants of our region. The B.Sc.III students get
the knowledge about how to conduct certain activities. Daily the students of
B.Sc.I and II visit the activity. They write the information in their note
books. This creates curiosity among the students. The information of number of
plants is going on increasing. This activity has been conducted for the whole
year. At the end of the year the students get information at least 40 to 50
plants.
